Franchisee Satisfaction Score

The Franchisee Satisfaction (FS) Score™ is an independent score (out of 100) showing how a franchise system’s own franchisees rate it and how genuinely the system engages its network.

Prospective franchisees do their homework and their advisors ask hard questions. Satisfaction claims without evidence carry little weight. The FS Score™ puts a number on franchisee sentiment, assessed independently and reported the same way for every brand.

The FS Score™ combines franchisee feedback data with FRANdata’s engagement review and assessment criteria.

The Franchisee Experience

Feedback from franchisees is assessed through an approved independent survey or the FRANdata Satisfaction Barometer™ across 4 key areas.

Franchisor relationship

The working relationship between franchisees and the support office.

Business performance

How franchisees view the commercial performance of their own operation.

Brand advocacy

Whether franchisees would recommend the system to others.

Brand confidence

Franchisee confidence in the direction and leadership of the brand.

What FRANdata reviews

The remaining 40% assesses the quality of the feedback and the programs in place to optimise network engagement.

Feedback independence

Who ran the survey and how far it sat at arm’s length from the franchisor.

Participation rate

The share of the network that responded.

System scale and maturity

The size and age of the system, which shape how the results should be read.

Connection and participation

The programs through which the franchisor engages its network.

Brands with a current FS Score

Franchisors choose whether their score is published. Brands are listed alphabetically, not ranked, and each entry shows the year it was assessed. A brand drops off this list when its score is no longer current.

From instruction to score

Instruction to assess

The franchisor instructs FRANdata to carry out the assessment.

Franchisee feedback

The franchisor supplies the results of a recent independent franchisee survey, or FRANdata runs the Satisfaction Barometer across the network.

Engagement interview

FRANdata interviews a key person on the engagement programs and culture of the system.

Assessment and review

Results are scored against the four feedback areas and the engagement criteria, then quality reviewed.

Score, certificate and licence

The franchisor receives its score out of 100, a certificate and a logo for marketing material, and decides whether the result is published.

Every brand claims happy franchisees. Few can prove it.
